Development activities of modern cars.

The development activities of modern cars more and more becomes a
matter of environmental sustainability, optimized fuel consumption
and increased safety systems.
A very important tool in accomplishing all these tasks are computer
based diagnostic tools that enables man and machine to interact.
Two common disadvantages with such tools are that they are expensive
and most commonly only works with one car brand, i.e. you will need
separate tools for different cars which drives the cost up.

Vladimir Jukic and Thom Wikingsson at Växjö University, have in
cooperation with BSR Svenska AB in Växjö, developed a communications
tool that enables communication between the cars ECU (Engine Control
Unit) and external test and measurement devices.

Primarily this system is intended for Saab cars, but can in the future
of course be used for other brands as well.

The foundtation "Kronan" managed by Swedish bank "Swedbank" have
acknowledged the innovative task accomplished by Jukic and
Wikingsson and granted a SEK 25.000:- reward.

At BSR we congratulate both Jukic and Wikingsson and are happy to announce
Jukic as our newest staff member at BSR.
