PPC - Support
The "Read car ?" message
The first thing that happens when you plug your PPC to the car and press the enter button is that PPC reads your car’s software number and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).

Before we send the PPC unit to you we preload it with the most common softwares fitting your VIN. If your PPC shows the "Read car?" message it is not an error code! Just read the car’s software by pressing Enter. Then use the program PPC Sync to upload the software of your car to BSR. If we have a fitting software number on our server you will receive a tuning file immediately in the same synchronization, otherwise you’ll have to wait till you receive an e-mail that tells you to synchronize your PPC once again (this takes 1-5 working days). This is to secure that you will receive the exactly right software for your car that is compatible with the software of the other ECUs in the car (for example TCM/ABS/ESP). If you get the “Read car?” message it will not help to try many times without syncing your PPC between (SW no. in the car will not be changed by it self).

Another thing that is extremely important is that you always must turn the ignition off BEFORE you disconnect PPC from the car!

PPC shows "Unable to communicate with PPC"!
"Unable to communicate with PPC" means that computer have no contact with the PPC.
First step is to make sure that both USB & COM-cable are connected at the same time.
Make sure the PPC shows "Press Enter".
Do not touch any buttons on the PPC while connected to a computer.
Try with both COM1 and COM2, "Communication ports" in PPC Update.
Also try using the other COM-ports in your computer if you got more than one.
Make sure you have no other programs running that can disturb. (For instance a mouse or a modem)
You can also try another cable or another computer.
If all this fails contact your dealer for more info.

The PPC unit shows "Read car"
When the PPC only shows “Read Car” it's because the tuned software does not match your vehicles existing software.

The first step is to log on to: /ppc/
You will then see “PPC update” to your left. This is the software bundle, including drivers, needed to download tuned softwares to the PPC unit using your computer.

The next step is to “download to PPC”. Once that is done you can begin the tuning procedure again. If you still only see “Read Car” then you must perform "Read Car" (according to the manual). Once that is completed, please sync the PPC unit with your computer again. This will give the BSR staff access to your software version in order to modify it into a tuned version.

This can take anywhere between four hours and five working days depending on the work involved but at BSR we have highest priority to offer you a tuned software as soon as possible.

Update - How long time must i wait for a new updated software?
When a customer submits a software to BSR, for instance after "Read Car?", BSR have highest priority to offer a tuned version of the software.

The hadnling time depends on several things where the most common thing is how much the uploaded software deviates from previous softwares that are already known by BSR. In some cases, we have to re-design softwares that have many changes. As a result, the time it takes to offer anew software can vary between a couple of hours and five days.

How do I know if there's a new software available for my PPC?
If BSR makes important updates for your PPC/car you will get an e-mail about it.

Since we always test our tunings kits thouroughly before releasing it, it is rare that we send out these e-mails.

To know if there is a new software available for your car contact your car shop. When you tune your car with PPC it will allways be a BSR tuned software based on the software that your car is currently equipped with from the manufacturer.

Where do I get my PPC number?
Your PPC number (on older PPC called OPS number) should be written on backside of the PPC.
When you bought the PPC an e-mail was sent to you with login, password and PPC number.
