Air filter
Air filter power boostIn general a sport air filter works on the principle of less resistance which can give power boost of a few extra horse powers. The effect is in relation to number of revolutions, so increase motor speed and the power will increase.
The most noticeable effect is quicker throttle response which is most noticeable on turbo powered vehicles since the "spool up" of the turbo speeds up.
It is important that the filter is not clogged since this can have a negative effect on the engine function. This applies for original filters as well as for sport air filters.

Sport air filters and air mass metersThere is no evidence that sport air filters have a negative effect on the air mass filters, although some garages sometimes wrongly tell their customers this.
Even if the car manufacturer or the dealer’s garage do not give the information it is a well known fact that especially Bosch filters are of uneven quality and very often give off incorrect indication signals or are completely defective.
This applies for air mass filters with a sensor plate as well as for the older type of air mass filters with a wire sensor. Faulty values from air mass sensors will in general not give error codes during diagnosis and are therefore hard to recognize.
Careless or incorrect handling by the customer when changing to a sport air filter, such as not cleaning the air filter holder/leaf trap, or overdosing on air filter oil during cleaning can increase the risk of damaging the air mass meter.
